Large Print Prayers and Hymns: Free PDFs
These are free large print hymns, Christmas carols and prayers, each with its own sheet. The words are old enough to be in the public domain, so you may copy them freely for church, a care home or the family. Choose 18, 24 or 28 point and print.

Where can I find hymns in large print?
Two collection pages hold the songs, each with a separate download for every one. The large print hymns page has the well-loved hymns, and the large print Christmas carols page has the carols for December. If you want just one, each song also has a page of its own with a short account of who wrote the words and when. Examples are Amazing Grace, Silent Night, Abide with Me and Joy to the World.
The other carols with pages of their own are O Come, All Ye Faithful, Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, O Little Town of Bethlehem, It Came Upon the Midnight Clear, Away in a Manger, The First Noel, We Three Kings and God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen. The other hymns are Rock of Ages, What a Friend We Have in Jesus, It Is Well with My Soul, Blessed Assurance, Holy, Holy, Holy, Be Thou My Vision, In the Garden, Nearer, My God, to Thee and Just As I Am.

Only songs whose words we could source from before 1930 are included. That is why a few hymns you may expect are missing: we leave them out unless we can show where the text is from.
Which prayers can I print in large print?
There are five, each on its own page: the Lord's Prayer, Psalm 23, the Apostles' Creed, the Doxology and the Hail Mary. Each page names the wording used and where it comes from, since prayers differ between traditions and translations. Check that the version matches the one your group says aloud.
A large print prayer is useful in a hospital room, at a bedside, or on a table in a care home, where a small prayer book is hard to read. The big type lets the person read along even when their eyes tire.
How do I print a sheet for a service or a sing-along?
Choose 24 point for a handout that people hold, and 28 point if it will sit on a stand or on someone's lap. The American Printing House for the Blind sets 18 point as the smallest size for large print, and asks for solid black type and plain fonts, which is what these sheets use. Cream paper reduces glare.
Print one sheet per person, and a few spares. For a group, print in 11 x 17 inch size and hold it up for the leader. A large print calendar can carry the service dates, so that everyone knows when the next sing-along is. Read what is large print for the reasons behind the layout.
