Which large print chart should I print?

The large print alphabet chart shows A to Z in upper case, lower case or both, in very large letters. The large print number chart has the numbers from 1 to 100 in a grid, in rows of ten. The large print multiplication chart is a 12 by 12 table with bold headers, so that you can find the answer by following the row and the column.

Print the size of paper that suits where it will go: Letter for a desk or a folder, and 11 x 17 inch for a wall.

Who uses these charts?

Teachers and parents use them with children who have low vision or who are learning to read and count. Adults use them too, for example someone regaining reading skills after a stroke, someone learning English, or a person who needs numbers in a size they can see. They also help in a care home, where a big number grid can go with a bingo game or a memory session.

If the person you are helping has a preferred size, ask them and print that. The lowest size in the American Printing House for the Blind guidelines is 18 point, and many people choose 24 or 28 point. Charts are a place where bigger is nearly always better.

Where should I put a chart so it helps?

At eye level, in good light, and without glare. Tape it to the wall by the table where the work is done, or slip it in a plastic sleeve and keep it in a folder. Cream paper and a matte finish cut glare. Point to each letter or number with a finger or a pointer as you say it aloud.
