Which large print paper do I need?

Use the large print lined paper for letters, notes, lists and practising handwriting. It has three spacings, so you can match the line height to the size of your writing. Use the large print graph paper for maps, sketches, knitting patterns, crosswords you make yourself, and any drawing where a grid helps. It comes in half-inch, one-inch and one-centimeter squares.

How wide should the lines be?

Wide enough that your letters fit inside the line without touching the next. If you write large because of low vision, start with the one-inch spacing, and drop to three-quarters and then half an inch as your writing gets smaller. The guidelines of the American Printing House for the Blind ask for solid black and no gray in documents for people with low vision, and the lines here follow that.

Try a page before you print a pile. Write a few words in your normal pen. If you can see the line easily and stay on it, the spacing is right. If you drift, choose wider.

What pen works best on large print paper?

A thick, dark marker or a bold felt pen gives the strongest contrast. Pencil is often too faint. Matte paper is better than glossy, which reflects light, and thick paper stops ink showing through from the back. If white glares, use the cream background.
