Rosary Prayers and Order
ORDER OF THE ROSARY
Begin with the Sign of the Cross and the Apostles' Creed.
On the first bead, pray the Our Father.
On each of the next three beads, pray one Hail Mary.
Then pray the Glory Be.
For each of the five decades:
Announce the mystery and pray the Our Father.
Pray one Hail Mary on each of the ten beads,
meditating on the mystery.
Finish the decade with the Glory Be.
After the fifth decade, pray the Hail, Holy Queen,
the response and the closing prayer below.
Finish with the Sign of the Cross.
SIGN OF THE CROSS
In the name of the Father,
and of the Son,
and of the Holy Ghost.
Amen.
THE APOSTLES' CREED
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth;
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified; died, and was buried.
He descended into hell;
the third day He arose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence He shall come
to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost,
the Holy Catholic Church,
the communion of Saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.
THE OUR FATHER
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name,
Thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done on earth,
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.
THE HAIL MARY
Hail, Mary, full of grace!
the Lord is with thee;
blessed art thou amongst women;
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now, and at the hour of our death.
Amen.
THE GLORY BE
Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.
THE HAIL, HOLY QUEEN
Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy;
our life, our sweetness, and our hope.
To thee do we cry,
poor banished children of Eve;
to thee do we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn, then, most gracious Advocate,
thine eyes of mercy towards us;
and after this our exile,
show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus;
O clement, O pious, O sweet Virgin Mary.
Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
THE CLOSING PRAYER
O God, whose only-begotten Son,
by his life, death, and resurrection,
has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life,
grant, we beseech thee,
that, meditating upon these mysteries,
in the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
we may imitate what they contain,
and obtain what they promise:
through the same Christ our Lord.
Amen.

How do I follow the five decades of the Rosary?
Begin with the Sign of the Cross and Apostles’ Creed. Pray the Our Father on the first bead, then one Hail Mary on each of the next three beads, followed by the Glory Be.
For a decade, announce the mystery and pray the Our Father. Then pray ten Hail Marys while meditating on that mystery, followed by the Glory Be. Repeat for the remaining four mysteries. After the fifth decade, use the Hail, Holy Queen, response and closing prayer on the sheet, then finish with the Sign of the Cross.
The download lists the Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious and Luminous Mysteries. It also gives the usual weekday choices and the Sunday variations for Advent and Lent. Optional prayers used by individual groups can be added separately.
Which Rosary prayer wording does this sheet use?
The Sign of the Cross, Apostles’ Creed, Our Father, Hail Mary and Hail, Holy Queen come from Key of Heaven, published in 1901. The Glory Be comes from that book’s Mass text. The closing prayer is from The Catholic Prayer Book, published in 1883. These historical prayer texts are in the public domain in the United States.
This Our Father uses trespasses and ends after deliver us from evil and Amen. The separate Lord’s Prayer sheet uses the KJV’s debts wording and its longer ending. The Catholic Apostles’ Creed on this sheet also differs from the historical Anglican Apostles’ Creed sheet; the Nicene Creed is a separate creed.
