Which large print money form do I need?
The large print check register is for tracking what goes in and out of an account: check number, date, description, payment, deposit and balance. The large print bill log is for the bills that come round each month, with columns for the bill, due date, amount, date paid and a confirmation number. Many people use both. The register follows the account, and the log makes sure that nothing is missed.
If you pay only a few bills, the log alone may be enough. If you write checks or want to see your balance day by day, start with the register. Print a few pages of each at once and keep them in a folder with the checkbook.
How do I keep track of bills in large print?
Write the bill in the log when it arrives, not when it is due. Put the due date in a dark marker, and write it on the large print calendar too, so that it shows up twice. When you pay, fill in the date paid and the confirmation number from the receipt, and tick the row. Keep the paper statements in the same folder, in the same order.
Use 24 or 28 point if you write with a thick pen. Numbers are the hardest thing to read when they are small, and a mistaken digit costs money. APH's large print guidelines put 18 point as the lowest size, and set solid black on a plain background as the safest; these sheets follow that. The full list of rules is in what is large print.
Can I use these with online banking?
Yes. Many people check the balance online or by phone, then write it into the register, in large type, so that they have a record that they can read without a screen. The forms do not connect to any account, and we never see your numbers: the PDF is made in your own browser.
Take care of what you write. Do not put full account numbers or passwords on these sheets. Write the last four digits if you need to identify an account, and keep the sheets somewhere private. If someone helps you with money, let them see the register and the log, but do not give out the details that let others use your account.
